Getting 'Reel' with Youth Filmmakers
How can you get involved?
Donations:
- A $10,000 contribution sponsors an entire Reel Vision class for one semester, paying for computers, video cameras, tripods, microphones, fieldtrips, materials, and staff
- A $5,000 contribution supports our scholarship fund for a year, which awards college credit to high school students
- A $2,000 contribution sponsors a student for the entire semester, paying for a computer, video camera, tripod and microphone
- A $1,000 contribution purchases a computer and software to edit video
- A $500 contribution purchases a digital video camera, audio equipment, and class materials
- A $250 contribution pays for transporation and tickets to festivals and professional shoots, where students learn about careers in the field and how to market their films
- A $100 contribution purchases class materials such as videotapes and tickets to film screenings
- By donating video equipment, computers, or services such as locations for screenings and fundraisers. View the full list of needed equipment and in-kind services.
Active Participation:
- You can be a guest speaker, and share your personal experience in the field with Reel Vision students
- You can serve as a Reel Vision committee member, to help expand course offerings by securing new locations, partners and instructors, publicize and fundraise for the program, and develop curriculum
- You can be an instructor of a Reel Vision workshop
- You can be an Adult Team Leader during the duration of a Reel Vision program, supporting a youth group with technical and research guidance
- Document Reel Vision program with digital photography
Volunteer Qualifications: Ideal volunteers will be committed to community outreach, have outgoing personalities and be capable of working independently. Knowledge of film production, youth education, and after-school programs a plus.
